How To Upload A Blog To Your WordPress Website

by | Jun 6, 2019 | Uncategorized

So you’ve finally created your website, huh?

Your newsletter is up and running, your social media profiles are getting reactions, and your brand is on point. It’s now time to start your blog.

A blog can help you to build a relationship with the people visiting your content pages. Now obviously there are tons of different website builders out on the market these days, though WordPress still seems to be the most popular. The process of creating a blog on WordPress is surprisingly easy too.

Let’s dive into a step-by-step on how you can add a blog to your WordPress website with ease.

1. Add a New Page

First start by logging into the Dashboard on your WordPress site. You’ll then click on Pages and then Add New. A few different page types will come up. Obviously you’ll want to add a blog page. Next, it’s time to add a name to your page.

2. Name Your Blog Page

Let’s say you write for a surfboard company and you want to write about the best places to surf in Maui. We would recommend a name such as “Top 10 Places To Surf In Maui”. This can help bring up your Search Engine Optimization (SEO). For now, leave your text box empty, as you’ll want that to act as a feed as your blog progresses.

3. Publish

Publishing your blog page means letting it go live. You don’t need to add any content just yet. Just publish your blog so that others can see it.

4. Adjust The Settings

Once published, go back to your Dashboard and go to Settings, then Reading. From here, you will click A Static Page, then Blog. This is probably the most important step in this process, as it will affect how your page appears when people go to it. Selecting Blog from the drop-down Posts Page menu gives your blog that scrolling appearance.

5. Decide On the Number of Posts

This really depends on how much content you want on your blog. Do you want three posts or fifteen posts? It’s truly up to you. Mess around with the numbers, see how it looks, make a final decision, and save your preferences.

6. Start Blogging!

You’re all good to go! Begin writing on your blog page. We highly recommend getting an editorial calendar in order. This will help ensure that you are producing consistent work for the people that follow your website.

Conclusion

We hope that our little article was helpful in getting you started with your very first bog! That first post can be stressful, as it is your first and only introduction, though if you write naturally and meaningfully, it will be a great start to let your blog blossom into something amazing.

Remember to keep the focus of your blog strong, promote your posts on your other profiles, and always consider the power of SEO. Do you or have you ever run a blog? What was your experience like? Let us know in the comments!
